What a really enjoyable day out that was: great company, good cafe stops, steady riding and excellent organisation. Thanks to all, especially Steve for organising it so well.

A special Chapeau to Phil and Helen on the tandem. How you guys managed to keep up I'll never know! What a ride you put in....very, very impressive.

Now to the sofa!!!!

Mark.

Thanks again Steve for all your efforts on the organisation. Super route, encouraging me to explore more of that North Easterly region.

Ollie, I think you need about another three helpers on your puncture pit stop team next time, just to speed things up and ensure that you are put under absolutely no stress at all.

Thanks Steve for organising a great ride today.

I'd done 116 miles by the time I got home and was still smiling as I cleaned the cow sh!t off the Cervelo.

Thanks also to all the Wheelers for sorting my puncture out so quickly. What a team! ;-)

It sounds as though everyone enjoyed the day. 8) I guess we were pretty lucky with the weather.

I'd like to add my thanks to everbody who came along - I actually quite enjoy planning these things but it can get pretty boring if I have to ride round on my own! Here's to the next one.

If you are reading this and didn't come on the ride you need to know that Ollie (OB1) rode straight through the middle of a very large and very fresh cowpat shortly after the morning tea stop. That's why, later in the afternoon, he persuaded his clubmates to change his inner tube after a puncture as he clearly remembered that his nice white Cervelo was still covered in cow s*** !

Hi Guys,

What a day! Got home on 118miles at 5.30pm. We were wiped out at 90 miles so thanks for waiting for us on those last few hills and the two minor mechanicals we had.

John Mac, your support on getting us home as far as Norton Lindsay was greatly appreciated, it avoided us doing the Tommy Simpson Ventoux wobble although we have to admit when we got to Barford we stopped for a short nap on the grass verge before the last three miles to Wellesbourne!

Good company all of you, well planned route with great cafe stops Steve...and thanks for laying on the entertainment Oliver!

Phil and Helen

Glad to hear the tandem team made it home to Wellesbourne ok. :P

One or two people said we should do these rides regularly. Our cunning plan last year (me and Phil Muir) was to try to do a day out each month during the summer. We should be able to fit in another two or three before the bad weather sets in again, providing someone can do the organising. So far (last year and this) only three club members have stepped forward (Phil, Ken and me) out of a membership of over 120!

Unfortunately I shall not be able to fit one in for August so if anyone else would like to have a go at the organising please let me know. The route-finding is fairly straightforward if you learn how to use googlemaps, although I still like working with paper OS maps. 8) If you'd like to have a go I'm sure we can help point you in the right directions.

Just seen JW34 on the way into work this morning. He is keen to lead an all day ride, maybe later in the summer.

Great to see you back out on the road regularly again John.
