British Mountain Bike Orienteering National Championships
This event was held at the weekend over both days, a five hour event on Saturday and a three hour event on Sunday. Competitors from around the country signed on at the HQ at Shugborough Hall to then go to as many controls and gain as many points in the hours allowed. The controls were all over Cannock Chase and the surrounding countryside.
Saturday - dry and hot - rough riding and slippery on the rounded stones and sandy soil.
Sunday - overnight rain had caused the surface to soften and although I was apprehensive about the conditions on semi slick tyres, bike handling was much easier.
3rd in my category both days and I didn't fall off. (well, only toppled off once on a steep uphill on wet grass where I got wheel spin and couldn't get my foot out quick enough.................a bit girlie!!!!).
